“Interview with an Icon:
Margaret Atwood in Conversation with George Orwell”
September 15, 2023

Picture
This special production featured Julian Lopez-Morillas, an award-winning Shakespearean actor who has performed in theaters across the country, Jean Wilcox, a Shellie-Award winner, and Roanne Butier, a veteran of many DAOR productions. It was paired with Lopez-Morillas’ performance of the “Pied Piper of Hamlin.”

The ”Interview” is based on a piece from Atwood’s most recent publication of short stories. It is a depiction of her using a medium to converse with George Orwell. So what unfolds is a modern writer of a dystopian novel, “The Handmaid’s Tale,” talking with the dead author of the most famous dystopian novel, “1984.”
